Making bags is a job of hands. The preparation of the fabric, the cutting of the leather skins, the sewing, despite being made using machines requires a lot of handwork and skill.
Some of the stitching is done purely by hand: when a junction can be subject to very high loads we choose to stitch them together by hand using a very thick thread. This will reduce the stress on the materials and reduce drastically the yarn breakages.
Most of the finishing is done by hand too: the sheen of the leather and the smoothness of the edges are due to a patient wiping with cloths and waxes .
